Five Danish Music Awards (the Danish equivalent of Grammy) for the best jazz or crossover album of the year and two Carl Prize Jazz Composer of the Year awards make the guitarist Jakob Bro (1978) one of the most successful Danish jazz artists ever.

As leader, he released thirteen albums. He has recorded with an impressive list of artists including Lee Konitz, Bill Frisell, Paul Motian, Kenny Wheeler, Paul Bley, Chris Cheek, Chris Speed, Ben Street, Mark Turner, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Andrew D’Angelo, George Garzone, Craig Taborn, Oscar Noriega, David Virelles, Jon Christensen, Jesper Zeuthen… He was with Paul Motian & The Electric Bebop Band as well as with Tomasz Stanko’s Dark Eyes Quintet, when they performed at the 2010 Belgrade Jazz festival. Besides leading a trio with Thomas Morgan and Joey Baron, in recent years Bro worked with the trumpet player Palle Mikkelborg and with the Danish electronica producer Thomas Knak. At this festival, he will present his new album Streams (ECM) with its emphases on melody, sound, space, layered textures and interaction with his renowned partners.
